Ringing Bells Freedom 251: 4.8 crore solicit in Bihar, UP(India)

In India,with a combined population of about 30 crore and limited poverty, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are something undesirable for cheap smartphones. If Ringing Bells' officials are to be believed, the two states contributed 4.8 crore registrations out of 7.5 crore total registrations for the company's controversial Rs 251 smartphone. ?We have got over 2.8 crore registrations from UP and close to 2 crore from Bihar,? Ringing Bells CEO Mohit Goel said. Reports say that Ringing Bells has started delivering about 65,000 units of Freedom 251 in its 2nd phase, while in the 1st phase it demand to have delivered around 5,000 units.

According to the company, it has started deliveries in states like West bengal, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and UP(Uttar Pradesh). Considering the very large demand, the company says, it is satisfied with customers' response so far after delivering the cheapest smartphones through lottery system. In a statement the company that said after the delivery of around 65,000 units, total delivery of Freedom 251 across over the country will be 70,000. While we are yet to get authentic customer reviews of the phone, it may take ages at this speed for the company to deliver 4.8 crore phones in Bihar and UP.

The Freedom 251 phone features 4.0" qHD IPS Display, 1 GB RAM, 1.3GHz Quad core processor, 3.2 MP Rear & 0.3 MP Front Camera, 3G Support and 1450 mAh battery.

Rs 251-smartphone sounds incredible. When the company started to search registrations for the phone, it was dubbed by many as a fraudulent deal. A Congress leader called it the "biggest scam of the millenium". Not only website of the company collide, even the government's role was questioned for the company had claimed the phone was developed with "huge support of the government."
